The client wanted a re-design of his country garden. As the garden was long, it was divided into four garden rooms and linked by a path. To provide an all-year interest, the planting combines formal severity and symmetry of topiary with roses and perennials.

A wide lawn with two mature Pinus sylvestris, a cosy seating area with Buxus sempervirens cones and evergreen woodland planting define the first garden room. Rose arches with old and new cultivars and box balls are the focal points for the pool area. A winding cobble stone path leads to a circular sunken seating area. Plantings of Carpinus betulus hedges, locust trees (Robinia pseudoacacia ‚Umbraculifera’) and Taxus baccata ’Fastigiata’ provide privacy. The naturalistic planting mixes Alchemilla mollis, Campanula latifolia var. macrantha ’Alba’, Campanula punctata ’Sarastro’, Echinacea purpurea, Limonium latifolium, Scabiosa caucasia ’Perfect Alba’, Miscanthus sinensis ’Gracillimus’ and several Iris germanica cultivars. In the rear of the garden an ornamental herb and vegetable garden was built.
