The family’s house is located in Müntschemier, an idyllic village near Murten with a view to adjacent vegetable fields. The modern garden design links the terraces, lawns, a seating area next to a vegetable plot and an alley of Indian bean trees with the surrounding landscape of Seeland.
Inspired by the vegetable production, straight rows of clipped Buxus balls structure the garden. Spring starts with a carpet of white daffodils, purple, green and orange tulips. Naturalistic perennial planting with delicate ornamental grasses, foxtail lilies, purple lavender, mullein and cream-white hollyhocks provide a multitude of colours and textures through summer.
A screen with rotatable Corten steel slats controls views out of and into the garden. A grassy island with a multi-stem juneberry takes center stage on the lawn. A clipped Taxus hedge runs along the border of the property providing a calm evergreen backdrop to the planting in front.
