The luxurious boutique hotel "The Capra" is located in Saas Fee, at an altitude of 1800 m, in the Valais Alpes. The design for the garden is inspired by the vernacular architecture of sun and snow bleached timber houses and the larch and pine forests extending from the Rhône valley to the Saas Fee region.
The landscape design links the two hotel buildings. The use of plants that are native to and suitable for the location creates a recognizable identity for the site. Generous drifts of dwarf pines interspersed with single and multi-stem conifers harmonize with willow, Cornelian cherry and shrubby cinquefoil.
Native alpine plants such as alpine eryngo and fire lily provide dashes of colour in a predominantly evergreen planting scheme. Pots with seasonal planting along the façade and on the terrace provide additional interest.
