The garden is west-facing and sunny. To complement an existing terrace at the sunny front of the garden, the clients required a secluded and shaded seating area near the fountain at the back of the house.
Clipped Buxus hedges and Taxus cones provide an evergreen framework for seasonal highlights such as tulips, bearded iris, geranium and lavender. A row of sweet gum and ornamental grasses offer a subtle screen vis-à-vis the neighbouring property.
The corten-steel brazier is the focal point in the shaded area. Its colour corresponds with the brick façade and the red-tinged sandstone paving. Rain reveals the paving’s delicate structure and adds to the garden’s attraction.
